Biography

Chuck Memphis was born on December the 16th, 1946 in a small village in the Netherlands called Barendrecht. He came out of a musical family. His father and mother were both gifted musicians. Chuck started of on the age of 8 years by playing in the local brass band. By the time he was 13 he started his first group called “The Playing Stars”. From that moment on his career took off. He won several song contests and was broughtcasted country wide by the national radio stations. In 1978 his first single came on the market. Later he produced several more singles, LP’s and CD’s. The music style can be best described as rock and roll with a touch of gospel and country. He was greatly influenced by his all time favourite Elvis Presley. The music broad him all over the world and he was on stage with world famous acts as Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Marty Robbins, Boxcar Willie, Dick Damron, The Coasters, Crowded House, The Straycats and more. He toured through Europe, Indonesia and The United States. During a TV special in 1987 he met- and was backed up by the legendary “Jordanaires”. The vocal backing group who supported Elvis Presley for so many years. 

Although nowadays not so active anymore as before, he still can be found once and a while on stage performing his rock and roll, country songs and ballads. He keep on recording with his favourite producer Cas VandenBerg.
